Sketch Cards for 901 Comics - November 2023

901 Comics East, where the Mid-South Cartoonists Association holds several events, asked me to draw some sketch cards for their giveaways.  These are the ones I created, and I hope you like them.  Be sure to shop at 901 Comics East for your chance to snag one of these little beauties.

This was my first time drawing sketch cards, and it was fun.  It was also my first time drawing E.T., a Minion (I chose to draw Kevin), Luffy from "One PIece," and the rest are characters I've drawn time and again, because it's just fun to draw them.

Did Sparky Know?

From 1987, this strip has Charlie Brown mentioning he'll probably kick the football in November 2000.  The strip was cancelled by 2000 and creator Charles Schulz mentioned, "Poor ol' Charlie Brown never even got to kick that football."  Had he continued, might he have?  I doubt it.  Winning isn't funny and, of course, with Charlie Brown's luck, he can't have ever kicked that football and, of course also, the strip ended before he ever found out...

August 2013 St. Jude Visit

Back in August, I had a chance to visit St. Jude with the Mid-South Cartoonists Association and draw with the kids there.  I met one kid (who I discovered was nicknamed Monte, accent over the "e", same as my best friend growing up) who said he hadn't drawn before in his life, "not really."  So, I asked if he wanted to learn to draw and he was game.  You can see the results as we went step-by-step to draw Charlie Brown, Mickey Mouse, and Muley the Mule.  He's an awesome 14 year old-ish kid, and my best wishes are with him.
