Winter Storm 16 - 20, 2021

Feb 16 & 17, 2021

Adding some photos of possible interest doing my photographic essay about the weather in Memphis, TN.

Feb 18:

Feb 19 - Firstly, we celebrate our pal Martheus Wade's birthday!

We woke, and I stepped outside to knock down the icicles from the house...

...upon exiting, I found DaMarco Randle digging out the driveway.  That's when he asked, "Do you want to build a snowman?"  I can't resist something fun, and he art directed us through creating Olaf from "Frozen."

It was even featured at Action News 5's website!

There you have it.  Winter Storm to date...

Winter Storm - Feb 15, 2021

From 2/14/2021 (Sunday, Valentine's):

Catching up on images since my last post.  Our forecast today is: YUCKY!

The snow has become so rampant that it's not only landing and covering my front porch, but also slipping in under the security door (photos below video):

Earlier this morning vs. nearly noon.

Video of my street.

Winter Storm - Feb. 10-11, 2021

On February 10, 1994, I was at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, MS, when sleet began to fall about 10pm.  It came fast, and stacked up faster!  Eventually, the power went out, and the college staff had all the students grab one bag full of personal items and a blanket, then slip and slide to the Student Union building where we all gathered for the day and night ahead.

While there, I had to go to the bathroom, to return and find my blanket had been stolen.  I eventually found it under one of the school's football players as he was singing some song to his friends, and I joined in ending it with, "...and gimme back my blanket!"  They hollered laughing, he did, and I went back to my 'spot' in the union building floor.

The following day, they allowed us to make our ways home if we wanted to.  I wanted to.  I got the ice off my 1973 Ford LTD and hit the road home where, for days, we had no power; but, I had my bed!

Fast forward to the same day, 2021, we have ice falling around.  Starting with a thick, misty fog!

You can see how thick the fog was that you can't see the big buildings down the road.

I needed eggs because I only had two left and I love breakfast.  So, I made the mistake of going to the store: a 40 minute visit for eggs.  Ugh.

Overnight, you could hear the rain falling, you could feel the temperature dropping, and then I went to bed.  About 2:30am, the power went out.  And guess what?  In true Memphis fashion, the weather is never consistent, so we have, of course, a thunderstorm in the night!  Power = OUT!  Still, I could hear the thunder from my bed!

Then, I woke to ICE EVER'WHERE!!

Muley Reads: When Aidan Became a Brother

With so many species of animals, the MuleyVerse has always been inclusive and appreciative of people because of their individualities and differences, the things that make them special! Mules, dogs, ducks, horses, donkeys, and cows - all friends!

This sweet #ownvoices picture book by Kyle Lukoff, almost autobiographical, celebrates the changes in a transgender boy's life, from his initial coming-out to becoming a big brother.

Muley Reads is a series of videos starring Muley the Mule reading some of his favorite books - and we hope some of yours - wishing to inspire a love of reading, learning, imagining, and creation in children of all ages! And, as always, we love the books that communicate about people, animals, environment, love, and friendship. Some of Muley's special friends may even pop in to request a book. Music is Crazy Chicken by David Fesliyan. "Reading is fundamental!" Books add the fun, Muley adds "da mental!" Grab your family together, grab a snack or two, and sit back to relax while Muley Reads!! www.muleythemule.com www.muleyshow.com
